Click to find out where your special offering will go this Sunday

Harvest Home - World Hunger Sunday is November 15th this year.

This year our donations of food items will be given to the Southern York County
Pantry, to be shared with families in need. Monetary donations will
be sent to the “Susquehanna Conference Harvest Home Offering for
World Hunger.” If you have any questions, please talk with Pastor Ron or Lew Elicker.

About the Southern York County Pantry

About Us 100_0115

The Southern York County (SYC) Pantry was begun in 1982 as a social justice program. It is totally a volunteer non-profit organization. The Pantry serves the communities of Southern York County with emergency food and/or energy assistance. The Pantry is hosted by St. John The Baptist Church and is housed in the outreach building pictured above.

Today, there are over thirty churches that support the Pantry’s mission. The congregations donate food and money, recruit volunteers, and send representatives to meetings. We continue to receive generous support from local businesses, organizations and individuals.

Our pantry is unique in our area in that we are one of very few pantries to deliver food to those who can't come to the pantry. There are typically more than 50 families each month who use our services and it seems our numbers grow each year. Many of the families who come to us are working but do not make enough to keep food on their table. Our clients walk through the pantry with a grocery cart and "shop" for what they need/like.  Previously we took bags of groceries to their houses (which we still do for "shut-ins").  This new "Shopper" model allows them to choose which vegetables etc. they like.

If you would like to tour the SYC Pantry, please talk with John Elicker and he will arrange it for you.  See the SYC Pantry NEWS item for additional details.
