Our pantry suffered a devastating occurrence last week when a water pipe in the ceiling burst from the frigid temperatures. A light fixture and many ceiling tiles were lost and the entire pantry was flooded. Additionally, we lost our inventories of fresh veggies and baked goods and we may have lost 2 of our commercial refrigerators. Thanks to neighbors, friends, regular volunteers and the Susquehannock baseball team (and coach), the pantry is well on its way back to functionality. A monitory donation would be most helpful right now (see below). It need not be large; whatever you can afford will be graciously accepted and gratefully appreciated. The pantry hopes to be back up and running by the end of next week. Prayers are also appreciated.
During the month of February we will be collecting saltine crackers, oatmeal variety packs, cold cereal, peanut butter and jelly. Also the pantry always needs personal hygiene products for Moms and Dads (soap, shampoo, deodorant and shaving essentials.etc.) Also tooth paste, tooth brushes and mouthwash are always needed.
The pantry can also use household cleaning products (Windex, Mr. Clean, Scrubbing Bubbles etc.)
Please remember, the pantry requests plastic or cans over glass containers. This is very important as breakage is a problem.
Don't forget, if you buy just one item a week with your regular groceries, that's 4 items each month. When 25 of us do this, that's 100 items a month :)
Please put "one item for the Southern York County Pantry" on your grocery list this and every week. Thank you so much
The pantry serves the communities of Shrewsbury, New Freedom, Stewartstown, Loganville, Seven Valleys, Railroad, Glen Rock, Glenville, Jacobus, New Park, and Spring Grove..
